We’ll eventually combined the two blogs, but all new posts will be at the address above.
Nana came to visit two weeks ago (?) and she played with Turing and did all the cooking and painted the living room (see below) so I could just work on my dissertation. Much progress was made. Much fun was had by Turing, who is still talking about going to the zoo with Nana and also how we should share our wafer cookies with her.
Turing has been learning at an amazing rate, recently. He has nearly nailed colors, snapping together quatros (big legos), counting to 5, and matching the blocks to the holes on his bus. He pretty much had counting to 5 figured out, but then he wanted to learn more numbers, so he is now confused above 3. We’ll work it out.
It’s a kiss for Nana! I really need to get a camera that doesn’t have such a terrible delay on it.

The Madison zoo is free. It is also perfectly sized for a toddler - Turing will walk around most of it and then be tired of walking for the last 20% or so (that’s without going into any of the buildings). Half way around is a concession stand to get ice cream. If the weather isn’t too hot for the pregnant lady, it is the perfect way to spend the post-nap, pre-dinner time.
When I ask him if he wanted to go to the zoo today, he thought about it, then nodded and said, “zoo.” Then he thought some more and said, “car ride.” When I agreed that we’d have to ride in the car to get to the zoo he said, “car keys.” What a planner. Only once we were driving to the zoo did he start taking about the seals, which are his favorite. He loves the crazy throat clearning sound they make and the way they swim. He continued to talk about them all day (also, ostriches, peacock, flamingos) and fell alseep talking about the seals.
We went to Chautauqua, we apparently only took 2 pictures. And most of the videos we took, Turing erased off the camera. Oops. To get there, we rode the train, which worked out really well. It was a night train, so once we actually managed to get settled, Turing slept for most of the trip. First train ride!
We got a video camera (a while ago). Here are some of the videos on picasa
